Col. Mary J. Bradley

Colonel Mary J. (Gallagher) Bradley is a member of the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

As a student at North High, she was a member of the National Honor Society, the Drama Club, the Girls’ Choir, Band, and the Varsity Field Hockey Team. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1989 and went on to Suffolk University School of Law where she served as president of the Student Bar Association.  She graduated from the Judge Advocate General’s School in 2001, launching her distinguished career in the JAG Corps.

Col. Bradley has served as a Military Legal Advisor to the U.S. Army in Europe; a Senior Legal Advisor at Joint Task Force Civil Support at the Pentagon; and a Professor of Military Law at both the Army’s Command and General Staff College and the JAG Legal Center and School at the University of Virginia. In 1994, Col. Bradley, then a Captain, served in a ground breaking position as the first female Judge Advocate to serve with the 3^rd Brigade, 25^th Infantry Division in Hawaii. Most recently, she was assigned as the senior Legal Advisor to the NATO Training Mission in Afghanistan, providing legal
support to the 39-nation coalition that is training, advising, and equipping the Afghan National Security Forces. 

She has published numerous articles on military law in The Army Lawyer and The Military Law Review, where she also served as senior editor for two
years.  Currently, Col Bradley is completing a master’s degree in Strategic Studies at the National Defense University in Washington, DC.   

A Highly decorated officer, Col. Bradley has been awarded the Bronze Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation and Achievement Medals, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the NATO Non-Article 5 Service Medal, and the National Defense Medal. 

Regardless of where her military career has taken her, Col. Bradley always finds time to lend her time, leadership, and managerial talents to various community
organizations. As a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts, she has devoted countless hours mentoring girls and serves as a positive role model to young women world-wide.  She and her husband, Colonel Corey Bradley, have three daughters: Carolyn, Rachel, and Lauren.
