Patricia J. Flanagan, M.D.

Patricia J. Flanagan, M.D. (1975) is a pediatrician in Providence, RI and director of the Teens with Tots Clinic at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. The clinic provides social and medical services to nearly 300 mothers under 16 years old and their babies, following their lives for up to five years. Dr. Flanagan is also the co-director of the medicine/pediatrics residency program and attending physician for the adolescent medicine unit at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. She is an associate professor of pediatrics at Brown Medical School and an adjunct professor at Brown University and the University of Rhode Island School of Nursing.

Recognized as an expert on teenage parenting and adolescent medicine, Pat is a recipient of the coveted SOROS Foundation Fellowship and has initiated the development of a statewide policy agenda for infants and toddlers to improve early care and education. She is widely published and a sought-after speaker on teen pregnancy and adolescent parenting, serving on numerous national and statewide Boards advocating for youth.

Following high school, Pat attended Cornell University where she graduated with honors. She went on to the University at Buffalo medical school and completed her residency in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. She received a fellowship in ambulatory pediatrics from Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University and was one of the first pediatricians to be board certified in the subspecialty of Adolescent Medicine.

Dr. Flanagan recently received the 2005 Equal Justice Award from Rhode Island Legal Services for her dedication and commitment to the Rhode Island Family Advocacy Project for which she serves on the executive board. Dr. Flanagan resides with her husband and three children in East Greenwich, RI.
