Linda Gail Kent ('64) attended the Juilliard School of Modern Dance after graduating from South, becoming a professional dancer who has toured the United States and the world with renowned dance troupes.

In 1968, she joined the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, touring internationally with them until 1974. From 1975-1989, she danced with the Paul Taylor Dance Company and has staged Taylor's works for the Bat-Dor Company, Les Grands Ballet Canadiens, the Joffrey Ballet, SUNY Purchase, Emerson College, and the Juilliard School, where she has been a faculty member since 1984.

Throughout her career, Kent has performed on the world's most famous stages and has taught master classes in dance at numerous colleges as well as the acclaimed Bolshoi School in Moscow. One of her special interests is Liturgical Dance and each year, she presents a program at the Union Theological School in New York City to demonstrate the use of Liturgical Dance in church services. She has performed Liturgical Dance locally in the Christmas Eve Service at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Amherst for many years.
