Lynn M. Steinbrenner, M.D. (‘72) – Lynn Steinbrenner, M.D. is Chief of Oncology and Medical Director of the Hematology/Oncology Primary Care Group at the Veteran’s Administration (VA) Western New York Healthcare System. While a student at Williamsville North High School, a teacher suggested she consider a career in medicine because of her interest and aptitude in science.

Steinbrenner heeded that advice and after attending Canisius College, went on to obtain her medical degree from the University at Buffalo in 1980. Today, she is a highly sought-after professional who successfully combines a love of teaching with her role as a compassionate, caring physician. In addition to her patient care and administrative duties at the VA, she is the Assistant Program Director for the VA Department of Medicine Residency Program for the State University of New York at Buffalo and associate professor of medicine at UB.

A highly regarded teacher and lecturer, Dr. Steinbrenner received the coveted “White Coat Award” in May 2000, presented annually to a physician voted by medical students to be the best teacher. Dr. Steinbrenner serves on many VA committees including the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Agents Committee for the VA Network, the Drug Administration Subcommittee, the Quality Management Committee, and the Network Pain Advisory Committee. She chairs the Cancer Committee and the Pharmacy Therapeutics Committee at the Medical Center and co-chairs the Pain Oversight Committee. She also serves on several committees at the University.
