Eric Jordan Young

Eric Jordan Young (1989) started his career as a performer after seeing a production of the musical Dreamgirls at Shea’s Buffalo Theatre when he was just 12 years old. In 7th grade, as a student at Mill Middle School, he landed the role of Peter Pan in the school musical and has been performing ever since. As a high school student, Eric performed in many shows produced by the Upstage New York Theatre Company, including George M! and Damn Yankees, officially launching his professional career.

After graduating from East, he attended Ithaca College and graduated with honors earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in musical theatre. During college, he worked summer stock, regional theatre and theme parks, including Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, honing his craft and setting the course for a successful career. His astonishing singing voice and dazzling dancing have earned him a continuous career on the Broadway stage, where he has appeared in Chicago as flamboyant lawyer, Billy Flynn; Ragtime, Seussical the Musical, and The Look of Love. He received a Helen Hayes Award for his performance as Jake in Side Show, at the Signature Theatre in Washington D.C. Some of his other regional and touring credits include the Tony Award winning production and the first national tour of Chicago, and national tours of Ragtime and Dreamgirls.

Eric has said that, even at the young age of six, he was hooked on the extraordinary talents of the legendary performer, Sammy Davis Jr. Eventually, Eric decided to tell the story of his own coming of age and his fascination with Sammy Davis, Jr. He co-wrote, produced and starred in the acclaimed one-man musical, Sammy and Me.

Eric has been a faculty member for Ann Reinking’s prestigious Broadway Theatre Project and continues to teach as often as possible at local schools and his alma mater of Ithaca College. He joins his brother, David, who was inducted into the Wall of Fame in 2000.
